If you have DSL service where they put your Internet connection over you analog fax or voice line, then a DSL filter most likely is not installed.

This filter separates the Internet Signal from the Analog voice/fax service so that when a call or fax comes in, that signal does not distort the xDSL internet signal.

Your Internet provider will provide these for free or you can get at some local electronics store.
